Nature lovers will enjoy discovering the Otway Ranges, with its many spectacular beaches, waterfalls and magical hidden rainforests.

MELBA GULLY

Melba Gully State Park, home of the "Big Tree" is located just west of Lavers Hill. This walking circuit beneath Otway rainforest trees and majestic ferns is transformed at night into an enchanting display lit by millions of Glow Worms. A torch is recommended.

JOHANNA BEACH

Johanna Beach is dog friendly all year around and is the ideal spot for dogs to paddle in the calm rock pools, play in the waves or just burn off some energy on the long uninterrupted stretches of soft sand. Johanna Beach is also well know for it's fishing and surfing.

LAVERS HILL

Lavers Hill is a small township and is the highest point of the Great Ocean Road. This small town hosts Tearooms/Craft Shop, General Store/Petrol Station, Motel with Bistro and Tavern with a Bistro.

TRIPLET FALLS

Triplet Falls provides visitors with an impressive rainforest and waterfall experience. The walking track to Triplet Falls winds through tall Mountain Ash eucalypt forest and shady Myrtle Beech rainforest.

These Otways rainforests of ancient origins and also of more recent times, where the forest has regenerated after fire and logging.
Parts of the Otways logging history is still visible as you meander through the rainforest. The walk has a lot of steps which makes it
unsuitable for people with limited mobility.

Beauchamp and Hopetoun Falls are located on the ridge near Beech Forrest and are also well worth a visit.
If travelling down Binns Track make a stop off at the Californian Redwoods, where you will feel tiny in comparison to the giant.

THE OTWAY FLY

The "Otway Fly Tree Top Walk" is located in rainforest adjacent to the Otway's premier waterfall destination, Triplet Falls.
The Fly is directly accessible from Phillips Track and is approximately 45 minutes drive from our Otways accommodation.

The Otway Fly is 600 meters long, 25 meters high, and the longest & highest walk of it's kind in the world. A 45 meter Spiral Tower is the highlight and takes you to through the understorey to emerge amongst the crowns of the giants of the forest.

AIRE RIVER

Home to lots of wildlife, especially water birds, the Aire River Estuary is a perfect spot for a swim on a warm day with it's sheltered sandy beach. Dangle a line off the big old wooden bridge to try your luck at catching a Bream, Mullet or maybe an elusive Trout.
Got a boat??? Bring it with you and explore the lakes upstream. Walk the 4WD sand track out to the river mouth on rugged Glenaire Beach to try your hand at surf fishing, or just take in the rugged Otway Ranges coastline.
The Aire River is also a step-on/step-off point along the Great Ocean Walk.

CAPE OTWAY

Historically known as "The Beacon of Hope" the Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest lighthouse on mainland Australia and has blessed ships with a safe passage through the treacherous Bass Straight since 1848. The restored Telegraph Station is open for viewing as are a number of heritage listed buildings and the Assistant Light Keepers Residence boasts a great cafe offering delicious lunches, coffee and snacks.

At the Cape Otway Lightstation you can even climb the lighthouse tower and step back into history, imagining the wild seas and the shipwrecks which brought about its construction. Blanket Bay, Crayfish Bay, Parker River, Point Franklin are all nestled along the Cape Otway coastline, and offer usually sheltered beaches, with lots of rockpools to explore. The Great Ocean Walk now passes through most of these spots.

PORT CAMPBELL NATIONAL PARK AND THE TWELVE APOSTLES

Pounded by wild seas and fierce winds, the coast of Port Campbell National Park and Bay of Islands Coastal Park has been
sculpted over millions of years to become one of the most impressive natural sites in Australia.

Towering rock stacks loom out of the ocean just off shore from sheer limestone cliffs. Arches, islands and blowholes have also been carved out of the soft cliffs by the wind and sea. Many ships have come to grief on the rock coastline, earning it the title of the Shipwreck Coast.

The Park offers many natural attractions including the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, Gibsons Steps, The Arch, Blowhole,
London Bridge and The Bay of Islands.

Loch Ard Gorge was named after the tragic wreck of the Loch Ard in 1878, where only 2 survivers Tom Pearce and Eva Carmichael
huddled together at the end of the beach in a small cave. The history of their rescue together with extensive historical displays about the
Loch Ard story can be found at Glenample Homestead.
